Trading Time For Money

I have spent most of my working life in a Financial Services.

Looking back on things today it seems strange but it was very old fashioned and progression was slow, in fact promotion only happened when someone died ore retired.

That all changed with the advance of new technology and the deregulation of the the Financial Services Industry and the Pensions Industry changed with it.

The industry changed rapidly and as as result great opportunity and progression followed

Given we were working in Regulatory Driven environment, the hours were often long and stressful but ultimately I found my niche holding key roles, including managing relationships with Deloittes and Price Waterhouse Coopers.

Like many businesses the Financial Services Industry were looking to reduce costs so I found myself helping the transition of legacy operations to India and once completed took the opportunity to take voluntary redundancy and do some travelling.

Over the next 12 months I travelled through Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia, with some short trips home made possible by contracting work. It was a wonderful experience and gave me a true sense of freedom

When I returned home to the UK I had some success with a Work From Home Property Franchise but the Financial Crisis of 2008 put paid to all that when the Sub Prime Mortgage Market imploded as depicted in the film – The Big Short

With a recession coming I went back into Financial Services but was made redundant 12 months later due to the downturn in the economy.
